Mr Latimer assisted me in interview preparation for medical schools. I found the meetings we had extremely useful; he gave a very good insight into applying to medical school and what admissions tutors would look for. We also discussed various medical issues faced this century and potential issues that could arise which was very interesting and gave some good topics to discuss at interviews. Mr Latimer gave both advice which was theoretical and clinically related advice and I felt all of this helped me get my offers and ultimatey end up studying medicine at the University of Cambridge. I would very much recommend him for other people and from his good communication with me I’m sure he is very good with his patients as well.

Mr latimer was my daughters consultant at peterborough. He was brilliant with her (she has anxiety) kept her calm at each appointment and when he came to see her after surgery. Couldnt have asked for a better doctor.

When I was 4 I broke my radius and ulna, which was very painful. My Doctor was called Mark and he was very nice and funny. I think he’s a very good man and doctor. The only bad thing was I had to wear a cast in the summer and it got very stinky!

When I was in my first year of my Nursing Degree I spent time in clinic and theatre with Mr Latimer. He is kind, caring and compassionate with his patients and easily builds rapport with them. He take time to explain and educate his patients about their treatment and care. He is also a fantastic and passionate teacher, taking time to nurture and inspire students and junior members of staff. Mr Latimer sparked my interest in Orthopaedics, the area which I now work.
I have also experienced Mr Latimer’s care as a patient too for both myself and my son where we both experienced amazing care.

Mark Latimer currently holds the iWantGreatCare Clinical Excellence Award
Mark Latimer was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals in February 2009. He was appointed to an Honorary Consultant post in Addenbrookes in 2010. He has a specialist interest in children’s orthopaedics, adult lower limb surgery and trauma surgery. He is the Chairman of the East of England Children's Surgical and Anaesthetic Forum.
Before studying medicine he graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Engineering Economics and Management. He performed Engineering research for both ICI and Monsanto as an intern before going on to complete a fourth year Masters in Engineering at Oxford.
He subsequently studied Pre-Clinical Medicine at Oxford University and Clinical Medicine at Cambridge University. He was awarded the degree of MBBChir in December 1997.
He joined the East Anglian Orthopaedic Rotation in 2002. This included 2 years of dedicated lower limb surgery in Cambridge.
He passed his FRCS (Tr & Orth) exams in 2007 and was selected for the prestigious Ingham Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in Sydney. He spent a little over a year in Sydney. The fellowship included a comprehensive training in all aspects of children’s orthopaedic and trauma surgery as well as an opportunity to work in the Kerry Packer Research Institute with Professor David Little. He has published academic papers in numerous fields including cardiology, anaesthesia, plastic surgery, neurosurgery and of course orthopaedics!
